Momofuku Noodle love. <3

Kit and I are big make that HUGE Momofuku Noodle Bar (171 1st Avenue btwn 10th and 11th St ) fans and so today after quite a intense workout we decided to treat ourselves to a late lunch.

We always tend to order the exact same thing every time here - because it is so bloody good. But today I thought I would branch out and try something different…..
Kit got our favorite…..
Momofuku Ramen w/pork belly, pork shoulder, poached egg

Delicious pork belly floating in rich, salty broth with veggies and a perfectly poached egg. This is one of my favorite bowls of food in the city. Just perfect.

Today I tried :
Today’s special - Flank Steak Somen w/ cucumber, yuzu, smoked egg

The steak was perfectly seared medium rare and the combination of flavors and textures with the cold somen noodles was fantastic. Tart and sweet from the yuzu (East Asian Citrus) and just the right amount of acidity and crunch from the pickled cucumbers and celery. The egg…. oh my goodness, that freaking egg. Smokey and salty and eggy and just lovely. ( I wonder what smoked “deviled eggs” would be like??? )
I loved how light this dish was and I didn’t feel overly full or weighed down after eating it.

Momofuku has wonderful organic and carefully prepared dishes which consistently taste SO SO good.
Now, my next goal…. to get that elusive Fried Chicken Dinner reservation…..
