Light Lunch at Morandi in the West Village
My bestfriend Ali’s mum was in town and we wanted to find a spot outside for a light lunch.
Morandi ( 211 Waverly Place ) is another successful Keith McNally establishment this time focusing on rustic italian.
We nabbed a table outside and just happened to be sitting across from Chelsea Clinton and her new husband! Ooh la la.
We ordered a few dishes to share….
Burrata e pachini burrata cheese with roasted cherry tomatoes “on the vine”
The soft and slightly warm ball of fresh mozzarella was perfectly salty and matched the sweetness of the roasted tomatoes and sticky balsamic.
Indivia e sanguinelle endives, goat cheese, walnuts, blood orange & mustard vinaigrette
I loved how colorful this salad was. I am also a sucker for anything with blood orange so this was right up my alley. Great balance of slightly bitter from the endive, sweet and tart orange and creamy goat cheese.
Bruschetta con ricotta e fave -fresh ricotta, fava beans & truffled pecorino
This was a lovely spin on a traditional tomato style bruschetta. Loved the big fava beans and the slight hint of truffle in the percorino shaved on top.
Morandi is a great place to come and people watch and also enjoy some shared plates.
For me, I tend to go for lunch rather than dinner…. probably to make use of the outdoor seating and sunshine!
They also have super strong Italian coffee. Yes please.
