Mortar + Pestle Madness : Green Curry Fish
Kit bought me a Mortar and Pestle for Xmas and I cannot stop using it as the starting point for basically everything I cook.
I love the smashing and bashing and I also love the intense flavors I can marry together in my little magic stone bowl.

Dogmatic - Happy New Year Hot Dog
I met two of my best girlfriends at Dogmatic in Union Square today and I must say I was looking forward to trying these hot dogs for the past 24 hours.
I had heard about Dogmatic before and so I did some research before we met for lunch. They started as a gourmet hot dog cart DGSS and then opened their brick and mortar space in 2008. So yes, I will admit I am slightly LATE on my game!

Stuffing my face @ The Lobster Place
I was lucky enough today to have a casting right across the street from the Chelsea Market, so I thought why not treat myself to a Lobster Roll + lunch at The Lobster Place
I ordered the freshly made Lobster Roll that came with crinkle cut potato chips, coleslaw and lemon wedge.

This dinner was made the night of the BIG 2010 Blizzard in NYC…. I can’t tell you how amazing it was to cook this and then enjoy it with a bottle of vino sitting by the windows of our apt and watching the snow blow down like crazy. Amazing moment!

Lasagna is something my mum Dizey taught me how to make when I was young….. She still makes a mean one. :)

Chop a medium brown onion, 4 cloves of garlic, about a cup of celery and a cup of carrot. Saute in a pot with a tablespoon of Extra Virgin olive oil. Add salt, pepper, a pinch of red pepper flakes, cumin, paprika, oregano and chilli powder....

If Kit asks me once he asks me a thousand times to cook something with truffle oil in it…. so last night I thought it would be perfect in a creamy risotto with portabello mushrooms, lemons and chilli shrimp.

Taco Time - La Lucha East Village
Stopped in for a taco at new taco shop in the East Village La Lucha. Decorated in true style with mexican wrestling memorabilia and pink foil booths, we went to order a pulled pork taco and the guy at the register suggested a special pork taco not on the menu, so we got that.
Served with a little black beans, pickled onions and cilantro the meat was juicy and tasted like it had been slow cooked...

Hot Spot - Pulinos
Today I stopped by Pulino’s on Houston and Bowery to try out the breakfast pizza.
This is the new outpost for Keith McNally ( Balthazar, Pastis ) with hotshot chef Nate Appleman. Started with a yummy Roasted Grapefruit with muscovado sugar & mint which was strange and delicious and the concept actually inspired a future cocktail experiment.

Kit and I were walking around the East Village actually looking for a bite at our local Mexican place but instead we went to Porchetta and boy were we totally happy about it!
